In addition to our active involvement in professional organizations, we believe it is crucial to give back to our community. Our firm volunteers as a group or participates in two to three charitable events for local non-profit organizations per quarter. We have also established a "Community Service Day" so that all members of the firm will come together on a work day to volunteer for a local NPO agency. The Community Service Days for 2009 and 2010 were spent volunteering at local food banks in Tucson, Flagstaff and Phoenix.
Our firm also has a long-term involvement with one particular non-profit organization called "Bag It"! This NPO was started by a local schoolteacher who is a breast cancer survivor. She provides resource materials in a canvas bag to newly-diagnosed cancer patients which includes vital information such as eating well, talking to doctors, dealing with insurance companies and making difficult decisions about treatment choices. In addition to our annual financial sponsorship of the organization's fundraising event "Take a Hike with Bag It", many of our firm's employees volunteer and serve on the organizing committee and assisted in many aspects of the hike. One partner also currently serves as Treasurer for the organization's board of directors.
Our other recent community involvement inclludes the following activities and events:
Epilepsy Foundation of Arizona - Sponsorship of 2009 and 2010 Mardi Gras fundraisers
- Angel Tree Holiday Drives (Salvation Army in Tucson, Phoenix and Flagstaff)
- Passionately Pink for the Cure Day (raised more than $12,000 in the last two years for the Susan G. Komen Foundation)
