Heinfeld, Meech & Co., P.C. is a certified public accounting firm, specializing in accounting, auditing and financial consulting services for governmental and nonprofit organizations. In 1986, the firm was founded in Tucson, and the firm has doubled in size every 4 years, reflecting our sustained significant internal growth. The firm also opened Phoenix and Flagstaff offices in 1995 and 2007, respectively.

When we began in 1986, we competed with very large national public accounting firms. But due to our exceptional client service, it wasn't long before we became the leaders in this highly specialized niche.
We recognize that our continuing success is directly dependent on the success of its individuals. Therefore, we have always focused on the growth of the firm and the advancement opportunities that this growth brings to our employees. We believe in developing and retaining our staff so we can promote from within. The ten non-founding partners were promoted to partner after an average of only 7 years with the firm. (According to the CPA Journal, it takes an average of 13 years to become a partner in a CPA firm.) In addition, five of the non-founding partners began at H&M after graduating college and have remained with H&M ever since.
We believe H&M is a unique company with tremendous respect and appreciation for its employees. It has been our focus to provide a firm culture that cultivates an atmosphere of teamwork, and fosters a work environment that is exciting and fun. The firm is dedicated to encouraging camaraderie among all employees. Because of our tremendous work environment, H&M has been named #4 on the list of the 25 Best Small Companies to Work for in America for the past three years. In addition, we also have been given the following awards that honor businesses in Southern Arizona for their employment practices: the 2007 Copper Cactus Award for Best Place to Work (honoring small businesses in Southern Arizona), the 2008 Culture and People Award (for companies with 36+ employees) at the annual SASIE Awards; and the Grand Prize in the 2008 Workplace Excellence Awards.
Aspects of our firm culture that contributed to these achievements include:
"Trip to Paradise" – If annual goals are met, all employees are sent on a teambuilding "trip to paradise". Our goals have been made for the last six years and our destinations have included the Mayan Riviera, a Baja Mexico Cruise, Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta and Seattle.

Community Involvement - We feel it is very important to give back to our community. H&M employees have banded together for many charitable causes and drives, such as community food banks, Habitat for Humanity, Toy drives, and Charity walks/runs. In addition, we have established an annual "Community Service Day" on which all H&M employee volunteer together during a work day. This year's Community Service Day, held on May 15, 2009, benefited our local food banks.

"Office Olympics" – Held during the spring and summer, the events include things such as paper airplane flying, magnetic darts, paper basketball, etc. These quick 30-minute events build camaraderie while providing much needed stress relief.

Strategic Planning – We believe it is important to involve many members of the firm in planning the firm's future; therefore we hold this annual meeting with senior staff to determine the goals for the upcoming year. All staff members are then asked to help achieve the goals as well as contribute suggestions for action.
