Cherie R. Wright received her B.S. in Accounting from the University of Arizona in 1989.  Cherie is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Arizona (license #7251) and California (license #72100).   Cherie's experience includes eight years of auditing experience with our firm, acting as Deputy Finance Director for a municipality, and as a consultant providing financial management services.

With more than 20 years of governmental accounting and auditing experience, Cherie has specialized knowledge and experience in many areas, including the following:

• Managing all accounting sections for governmental entities, including budgeting/forecasting, bonds, project accounting, financial reporting, payroll, accounts payable, general ledger, and grants management
• Preparation of Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports (CAFRs), internal control reporting, Single Audits, and Requests for Proposals
• Design, analysis and facilitation of rate structuring, including research/data gathering, comparative analyses and establishing billing processes
• Numerous special projects including cost allocation plans, fee studies, cash flow projections, financial software conversions and process reviews

Cherie has also spoken professionally at workshops sponsored by our firm as well as conferences and trainings sponsored by the Government Finance Officers Association, the Government Finance Officers Association of Arizona, the American Society of Women Accountants and the New Mexico Municipal League.  She also serves on three review committees for the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA): Popular Annual Financial Reports (PAFRs), Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports (CAFR), and Budget Awards.
